Bleach Hair Safely

How do I mix the Developer with the Bleach?

The recommended mix proportion is 1 part hair bleach to 2 parts developer. Your mixture should be fairly wet (like gravy) so that it spreads easily and works well on your hair. Bleach stops working when it dries.

Make the mix using a mixing bowl and use a whisk if necessary to make sure that the mixture has a smooth consistency, with no lumps.

How do I apply the Mixture?

Section the hair into 4 large sections and tie them up neatly using sectioning clips. Then unclip one section, create mini-sections out of that and apply carefully using a dye brush.

You can also use foils, place the strands on the foil and apply bleach on that.

Avoid getting too near the scalp.

How long Do I let it Develop?

Bleach develops and lifts for up to 30 minutes after application but you will need to stop the decoloration process when you get the hair color level that you are looking for.

Very often people make the mistake of not letting it develop enough, and the result ends us being too warm and too orange.

What do I do When I get my Targeted Level?

Emulsify and rinse.

What About Toning?

Typically hair bleach is great at lightening your hair, but you need to finish the look by toning to arrive at a more attractive reflect, otherwise you may get an unattractive looking color.

As your aim is to neutralize the yellow, you need to neutralize the yellow with its complementary color, which is ash or violet.

We would recommend using a color such as 10A (Ash Blonde) or better still 10V (Cool Blonde).

Ash Blonde 10A and Cool Blonde 10V both contain secondary reflects which will help neutralize the yellowness in the hair.

If you have bleached the hair up to a darker level, such as 7-8, then use 9A or 9V instead.

You only need to leave your color in as long as it takes until you have got your toned platinum color result and you have got rid of the yellow. Then emulsify and rinse.

Result: a gorgeous, lifted hair platinum blonde color result which will look very glamorous!

How about Maintaining Bleached Hair?

Your bleached hair will have a tendency to turn yellow when exposed to sunshine, frequent washes and blow drying. We would recommend using a toning shampoo (violet colored shampoo). Use this instead of your normal shampoo to maintain the platinum (cold) color in your hair.

If you have a violet conditioner, you can use that too.
