Face-Washing Mistakes to Avoid

  • The first and foremost mistake that we can do to our face-washing regimen is to pick up the wrong product. What can be more wrong than picking up a creamy greasy cleanser if you have an acne-prone skin? The right cleanser should remove the dirt, dust and grime only, without stripping the face of its natural oils. Thus, you need to find a cleanser that is made for your skin type and does the job.
  • Washing your face twice a day to the max is a good protocol. You do it more and the skin is bound to get dry and itchy. Washing your face multiple times will strip the skin of all the natural oils and healthy cells. This will irritate the skin and make it overproduce oil. Giving your face a break from products is a good idea from time to time. If you have not applied makeup or have not sweated much, just wash your face with tepid water.
  • Another biggest face-washing mistake that we commit is to use the wrong temperature of water. It is a myth that hot water opens the pores and cold water closes them. Pores do not have muscles to open or close. Instead of using hot water on your delicate facial skin, always use lukewarm or cold water to wash your face. This will save you from stripping your skin of natural protective oils and over production of sebum or over-drying.
  • Exfoliation is a healthy process that removes the accumulated dead skin cells. However, it should be done in moderation. Grainy exfoliators sometimes scratch the delicate skin on the face, which leads to pulling and tugging of the skin. Keep it to max twice a week to exfoliate your facial skin with mild exfoliating agents such as fruit acids or sugar scrubs. Use your fingers instead of the whole palm to make the action gentler.
  • Always remember to rinse out the product completely, be it your cleanser, scrub or any product that you are using. Not washing properly will lead to residue build-up, which in turn will clog the pores and dry out the skin. Show some love to the neglected jawline, nose and hairline.
  • Many cleansers contain irritating ingredients such as colorants, fragrances, alcohol and synthetic preservatives such as parabens. Do a favour to your skin and choose a cleanser devoid of all these. Always read labels carefully and select a gentle formulation to avoid any allergic reaction and irritation.
  • One common mistake almost everyone does after face washing is to rub your skin hard with the towel, in the hope that all the dirt and grease will come off. Rubbing can feel good but it actually pulls and tugs your skin. Keep a clean soft face towel aside for yourself and at dry your face the next time.

Great Conrow Styles

Braided Diva

This style is characterized by designer cornrows on one side and super braids on the other. You should start by sectioning your hair and braiding one side using your chosen design. After sectioning you should continue braiding the different sections into long single braids. To achieve the desired length and thickness you should add synthetic hair. Once you are done you should spray the hair in order to make it shiny.

It’s good to note that while the hairstyle is good to have, it looks great on you if you have an oval face. You should also have medium to coarse hair.

Curly Fro Hawk

You should braid your hair up on both of your sides in order to create a fro hawk. Before you start braiding you should ensure that your hair is clean and dry. Once clean you should go ahead and braid the hair with the design of your liking. When you are done you should secure the hair in place using pins. To have a great look you should apply a small amount of mousse.

This style is ideal for you if you have an oval or round face. For the style to last for a long time you should ensure that you keep the moisture content up. You should also cover the hair at night using silk or satin bonnet.

Side Ponytail

You should braid up your hair on one side and then top it up with a curly side ponytail. Just like other styles you should start by sectioning your hair off and braid it up. For ideal results you should braid it in a slight curved pattern. When you are done you should pull all of the hair into a ponytail and roll it with perm rods or flexi-rods.

Natural Hairstyles for Short Hair

Feathered natural hairstyles

This cut, which was popularized in the 70s can greatly turn into a short black hairstyle. Inspired by the look of cockatoo feathers, this cut will absolutely bring out your striking personality and mark an identity people will never forget. Make sure to enjoy those upwind tresses and try to make it more fun by putting a touch of blonde or bronze. This is truly the blast from the past hairstyle that you would not regret wearing.

Short spunky spirals

If you can’t get enough of curly natural hairstyles, then you should up the level and set some spirals on your hair. A lot of African-American women prefer wearing their curls to the highest intensity and one way to achieve this is by using flexi-rods. Flexi-rods can give this short black hairstyle greatly defined curls unlike hot curling irons which gives less twists. Make the most out of this crazy beautiful hair-do and liven it more with shades of reds and platinum.

Bob and bangs

Bob cuts never go out of style especially for black natural hairstyles. A bob cut is usually cut straight around your head and can be jaw-length or chin-length. Any kind of bob cut, whether it’s the A-line, Asian, shaggy, or buzz cut bob, would still flatter black short hairstyles. Black women who love this cut gamely pairs it with frills or bangs, making the look a lot chic and classy.
